Retail Categories That Use Tray Box Packaging

Retail & Grocery Merchandise
Open-top trays keep lightweight products organized on shelves, at the checkout stands and in promotional displays. They're easy to read and can be used to present products in an orderly way even in hectic retail situations.

Electronics & Components
Electronic accessories, circuit boards, cameras, cables, and replacement parts are commonly stored in RET tray formats for organized storage. Reinforced construction keeps product positioning from warehouse handling to the retail display.

Cosmetics & Personal Care
Boxes keep skincare products, cosmetics, perfumes, and makeup accessories organised and consistently presented across retail shelves and promotional displays. Smooth printing surfaces allow clear branding, product information, and high-quality graphics.

Food & Bakery Products
Tray box packaging is best suited for snack foods, baked goods, confectionery products and specialty grocery items where the product can be placed straight from the product display into the customer's hands without any extra packaging process.

Toys & Everyday Accessories
Tray merchandising is common to many packaged toys, novelty items, keychains, stationery products and accessories, as it not only organizes multiple items into a retail point display, but also helps to make products more visible to the customer throughout retail locations.

Pharmaceutical Products
In the health care sector, vitamins, dietary supplements and other health products are often sold in a well-organized countertop tray that provides easy access for customers and maintains inventory order in pharmacies and retail health departments.
Functional Benefits of Custom Tray Boxes
1- Open Product Access
Trays are boxes that are open on top where the customer can grab the product without having to open the closure, unlike enclosed boxes. This accessibility can improve retail product selection while keeping retailers' shelving organized.
2- Boxes For Shipping and Display
Many of the trays are suitable for dual use shipping and display. Products delivered in the same packaging that is used in the retail store for merchandising, lessening the amount of retail display packaging needed after delivery.
3- Material Choices Based on Product Requirements
White SBS paperboard suits lightweight retail products, while corrugated board provides added protection for heavier items. Kraft options are available for wholesale tray boxes and brands looking for recyclable packaging materials.
4- Structural Configurations for Different Load Capacities
Tray boxes are available in different structural configurations, single, double, or triple-wall corrugated construction provides the required strength, stackability, crush resistance, and protection for products of different weights.

Tray Box Construction Styles for Different Applications

Standard Cardboard Tray
Traditional cardboard trays feature an open-top design and are made from white SBS paperboard with a smooth printing surface. They support full-colour CMYK printing and are widely used for countertop displays, promotions, and retail merchandising where clear product visibility is important.

Corrugated Tray
The corrugated material used for corrugated tray boxes is B-flute or E-flute corrugated board at ECT-32 rated construction for superior load-bearing capabilities. The reliable construction is ideal for heavier items that are sent directly from cartons to the retail shelves without repackaging.

Kraft Tray
The Kraft trays are made from natural brown kraft paper, which is an easy-to-use, environmentally friendly packaging material. They are frequently chosen by brands when searching for recyclable packaging materials, yet with reliable and consistent tray performance in retail merchandising and organization.

Roll End Tray (RET)
Roll End Tray (RET) boxes feature friction locks and clip-out locking tabs which do not require gluing or sticking together. Reinforced double-layer corrugated ends provide a superior level of structural support, and flat-pack design means efficient storage prior to assembly into retail-ready tray displays.

Custom Tray Boxes Printing & Finishing Options

Color Printing Systems
Custom tray boxes support high-resolution CMYK printing for detailed graphics and PMS colour matching for consistent branding. Digital printing suits prototypes and short runs, while offset printing is used for larger volumes. Silkscreen printing produces solid colours, with water-based or vegetable-based inks available for recyclable packaging.

Surface Enhancement Options
Finishing options include matte lamination, gloss lamination, soft touch lamination, spot UV coating, gold, silver, copper foil stamping, embossing, debossing and aqueous coatings (gloss AQ as well as matte UV).
